Nigeria’s Former minister of finance, Ngozi Okonjo Iweala has emerged sole candidate for the position of Director-General of the World Trade Organization.
This is as her competitor South Korea’s Yoo Myung-Hee, announced her withdrawal from the race, today.
The new development clears the path for Nigeria’s Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala who the General Council announced late last year as the consensus candidate, for the position.
The Organization’s General Council head, David Walker announced last year that Okonjo-Iweala had garnered the most support among member nations to emerge DG, but her appointment was rejected by the then President of the United States, Donald Trump.
