The people of Okoma Community in Ahoada-East LGA of Rivers State have called on the federal and state governments to come to their aide and save the community from going extinct following military invasion of the area few days ago.
Chief Felix Ogubie, Paramount Ruler of the Community made this known in a statement yesterday.
“We were in our homes when soldiers came and started shooting and destroying houses. They said they were after oil thieves. They beat up our women and men,” he said.
He noted that the act has forced residents of the community to flee to other neighbouring communities due to incessant harassment.
