The Hon. Victor Oko-Jumbo-led Rivers State House of Assembly has passed the Transport Reform bill and Emergency Response bill into law.
This was during its regular sitting at the Hallowed Chambers, Admin Block, Government House, Port Harcourt, on Friday.
The Transport Reform bill was presented by Hon. Orubienimigha Timothy, while the Rivers State Emergency Management Agency Bill 2024 was presented by Hon Sokari Goodboy Sokari.
Oko-Jumbo in his remark, commended the sponsors, citing the Transport Bill’s potential to tackle “one chance” issues through commercial vehicle profiling, enhancing security, revenue, and service delivery. He praised the Emergency Management Bill as timely, domesticating NEMA’s efforts to address natural disasters, fires, accidents, and emergencies in the state.
