Ogoni leaders under the aegis of Ogoni People’s Assembly have threatened to shutdown the economy of the region in the next fourteen days if the federal government fails to meet their demands.
Chairman of the group, Williams Probel disclosed this in a chat with journalists in Port Harcourt on Thursday.
The group, is demanding that the East-West road be handled by the presidency under the presidential Infrastructural development funds and not the Ministry of Niger Delta.
“The only way we can sheath the sword at this moment is to see that workers are back to the site, meaning there is no politics about it,” he said.
“We are also demanding that the particular axis of the road, the section 1 to 4 be returned to the Presidential Infrastructural Development Fund where that project can be funded so that they complete the work on that road speedily,” he added.
