Spokesperson of the Rivers State Civil Society Organizations, Solomon Lenu has called for unity amongst the Ogonis to stand a chance to succeed as a people.
Lenu, in statement Today called on the Ogonis to come out en masse tomorrow to celebrate the annual ‘Ogoni Day’ celebrated every January 4th.
According to him, there must be an end to division amongst themselves if they must succeed as a people.
“All Ogonis Should Come Out En mass Tomorrow For Ogoni Day’s Celebration At BMGS. There MUST be an end to division amongst us if we must succeed as a people,” he said.
According to the Unrepresnted Nation’s and People’s Organization, UNPO, Ogoni Day is celebrated to remember the Ogonis’ peaceful struggle against discrimination, suppression and the destruction of their environment and livelihoods by international oil companies and the Nigerian government for now more than six decades.
