Former Governor of Rivers State, Dr. Peter Odili, has distanced himself from a viral social media publication claiming that he “replied” the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, describing the report as false and defamatory.
In a disclaimer issued on his behalf by his media adviser, Dr. Emma Okah, Odili said his attention was drawn to a publication titled “Peter Odili replies Wike in the language he understands,” allegedly authored by Sotonye Ijuye-Dagogo, also known as Ijuye Telescopic.
The statement clarified that Dr. Odili neither authored the publication nor granted any interview related to it. Although the author had reportedly acknowledged that Odili was not the source of the material, the disclaimer noted that several social media platforms and media organisations had continued to recycle the write-up, which was originally published about a year ago.
According to the disclaimer, Ijuye-Dagogo had earlier posted on his Facebook page in 2025, admitting that the supposed “reply” by Odili was a figment of his imagination, describing it as a dream sequence rather than a factual statement.
The media adviser stressed that Dr. Odili did not make, approve or authorise any such comment, adding that the publication was false, misleading and maliciously attributed to the former governor.
The statement further noted that while Odili supports the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and that of Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, he has not issued any comment or response to any individual regarding the ongoing political developments in Rivers State.
Dr. Odili also warned the author and all individuals circulating the publication to cease and desist immediately, retract the false report and refrain from further false attribution, warning that legal action would be taken if the directive is ignored.
