The Chairman of Degema Local Government Area, Hon. Michael John Williams, has warned residents of the area, against storing petroleum products in their homes.
Hon. Michael issued the warning when he visited Obuama community over a fire incident on Saturday.
The fire, which started around 8pm, Friday night, completely razed down a residential building where it originated and another building, a source said.
He said no life was lost but properties worth millions were destroyed.
He alleged that the fire was caused by the careless handling of a kerosene lantern, by one of the occupants of the building.
Hon. Micheal who sympathized with victims of the incident, urged residents to be safety conscious, especially during the yuletide season.
He advised residents to handle stoves, lanterns, gas cylinders with care and also turn off all electrical appliances when not in use to forestall recurrence.
