The Obio/Akpor Security Planning Advisory Committee (OSPAC) has arrested several illegal drug merchants and recovered a cache of illicit substances, including tramadol and codeine.
The suspects were apprehended on February 16, 2025, during a routine inspection when OSPAC operatives intercepted a waste bin truck travelling from Obiri Ikwerre to the Rumuokoro roundabout. The truck’s occupants, posing as waste management personnel, were found concealing the illegal drugs.
The substances were seized as evidence, and investigations are underway.
In a separate operation, OSPAC also arrested Chukwuemeka George from Abia State for stealing a manhole cover at the Rumuokoro flyover. Upon questioning, George confessed to other criminal activities, including car battery theft and burglary.
Chief General Obidike NWokohu, the General Commander of Obio/Akpor OSPAC, reiterated the group’s commitment to maintaining security within the community.
