Caretaker Committee Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Hon. Chijioke Ihunwo says he has ordered for an investigation into the cause of the collapsed two storey building at Okporo Road, by Rumuodara, on Tuesday.
Speaking, at the scene of the incident, Ihunwo sympathized with those affected and ordered for the treatment of persons injured.
He noted that the council will mobilise equipments to evacuate the debris of the collapsed building, adding that he has ordered for the arrest of the owner of the building and the engineer.
He said, “I have ordered for an urgent investigation into the cause of the collapsed two storey building in Okporo Road, by Rumudara, Obio-Akpor local government area.
On reaching the site, I mobilised youths of the area to rescue a trapped woman and her children.
Speaking after the inspection of the collapsed two storey building, I directed the council agencies for immediate investigation into the cause of the collapsed building and question those involved in the building.
