The Chairman of Obio-Akpor Local Government Area, Hon. Gift Worlu, has announced the immediate lifting of the ban on dredging and mining activities in Rumuokparali Community.
According to a statement issued on Monday, the decision followed extensive consultations and agreements reached between community leaders, environmental authorities, and relevant stakeholders. The resolution ensures that all dredging and mining operations will now proceed under strict safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
Worlu directed all operators to resume activities responsibly and in full compliance with the Council’s guidelines, as well as applicable state and federal laws.
He emphasized that the Obio-Akpor Local Government Council will maintain strict oversight to guarantee compliance, warning that any violations will attract appropriate sanctions.
