The Obio/Akpor Local Government Council has imposed a ban on scavenging and cart-pushing activities between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. within the council area.
According to the council, the restriction is aimed at curbing escalating cases of theft, vandalism, and other criminal activities allegedly perpetrated under the guise of scavenging.
Security agencies and designated task force teams have been instructed to enforce the directive, with offenders to be arrested and prosecuted in line with existing laws.
The council urged residents and community leaders to support the measure and ensure compliance in order to maintain safety and public order across Obio/Akpor.
