Obio/Akpor Chairman Donates ₦7 Million to Gas Explosion Victims

The Executive Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Ambassador Chijioke Ihunwo, has provided an additional ₦7 million to support the treatment of victims of the January 4 gas explosion in Oroazi, Rivers State.

During a visit to Sonabel Hospital on Monday, Ambassador Ihunwo announced the disbursement of ₦4 million to the hospital management to aid in the recovery of the four victims admitted there. Similarly, during a visit to Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH), he donated ₦3 million to the Chief Medical Director, Professor Chizindu Alikor, for the treatment of other victims.

Ihunwo, who also gave ₦1 million to the families of the victims, emphasized his administration’s dedication to ensuring the victims recover without financial hardship.

At Sonabel Hospital, the proprietor, Mr Sunny Obele, reported that the victims admitted there are responding well to treatment.

So far, Ambassador Ihunwo has donated a total of ₦10 million for the care of victims, including an earlier donation of ₦3 million shortly after the tragic explosion.
