Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Chijioke Ihunwo has visited site of the collapsed building at Iriebe community. The building we gathered collapsed in the early hours of Tuesday.
Ihunwo in a statement said he has ordered the immediate closure of the site, and asked owner of the building to report to the council.
He said, “We have visited the site where a building collapsed at Iriebe Community. From findings, the building collapsed in the early hours of today while the building construction was at the third floor.
“No casualty was reported, we have ordered the immediate closure of the site. While we express sadness over the collapse, we have asked the owner of the building to report to the council with his engineer for questioning.
‘We will be working with the Rivers State Ministry of Urban Development to see if approval was given for the project.
