Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Hon Barr George Ariolu yesterday presented three 500 KVA transformers each to Rumuogba, Eliesara and Rumuesara communities at the Council Headquarters, Rumuodomaya, Port Harcourt.
Chief Press Secretary of the Council – Ichenwo Goodluck disclosed this in a statement on Monday.
According to him, the Chairman while giving his remarks stated that government projects and programs should be for the benefit of the people.
“We are gathered here for one very simple reason, which is in line with the fulfilment of the promise we made to the three communities here present when you visited us on courtesy,” he said.
“We thank God for today because it is a day of fulfilment of promise for us, the council has procured three transformers in the face of paucity of funds for the benefit of our people. I will always reiterate the fact that government is all about the people at all levels. So anything short of that is not governance. That is why we are doing our best to change the narrative about local government administration.”
“If you go through what we have done so far, you will understand that our projects are people oriented projects and our aim is to add value to the lives of our people,” he added.
The Council chair also charged the communities to develop a proper maintenance culture for government facilities in their communities and ensure that they report cases of mishandling and theft to the appropriate authorities.
