The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, has called on Nigerian graduates to focus on becoming job creators, investors and globally certified professionals rather than limiting themselves to job seeking.
Nafiu made the call in Abuja during the fourth meeting of the scheme with heads of professional and regulatory bodies. He commended the agencies for their role in ensuring a smooth mobilisation process, stressing that professional skills and certification would complement academic qualifications and enhance employability.
“For 52 years, the NYSC has prepared youths for national service on the pillars of unity and development. Our graduates cannot merely be job seekers but must be job creators, investors and globally certified professionals,” the NYSC boss said.
He assured that the Corps would continue to provide manpower for the country while repositioning the service year into “a cubicle of professional excellence, ethical leadership and entrepreneurial innovation.”
