The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has commenced the disbursement of allowance arrears to eligible corps members across Nigeria, according to a report by News360 Nigeria.
The payment follows a pledge made by the NYSC Director-General, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, who had earlier assured that corps members would not be excluded from the newly approved ₦77,000 monthly allowance by the Federal Government.
Speaking at the Batch A 2025 Pre-Mobilisation Workshop held in April in Abuja, Brigadier General Nafiu stated that the arrears would be paid once the necessary funds were released. He also confirmed that even recently discharged corps members would be credited, as the NYSC already possesses their bank details.
“Once we receive cash backing for the arrears, we are going to credit them,” he said, emphasizing the government’s commitment to the welfare of Nigerian youths.
