The Rivers State Chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has called on the national leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to suspend Governor Sim Fubara, alleging actions that undermine party unity and governance in the state.
Speaking during a State Management Committee meeting in Port Harcourt on Monday, the NYCN Chairman, Comrade Nwisabari Bani Samuel, accused Governor Fubara of engaging in divisive activities that threaten the party’s cohesion. He warned that failure to act against the governor could result in the loss of youth support for the PDP in upcoming elections.
The NYCN leader also pledged support for the Rivers State House of Assembly, led by Hon. Martin Amaewhule, if impeachment proceedings are initiated against the governor. He described the Amaewhule-led faction as the legitimate legislative body and called on Governor Fubara to re-present the state budget to it for approval.
Nwisabari further alleged financial impropriety against the governor, describing the N4 billion counterpart funding project with the Bank of Industry as fraudulent. He called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate the alleged misuse of public funds.
He also accused Governor Fubara of using state resources to create divisions within the NYCN leadership and emphasized the council’s unity in the face of alleged financial inducements.
