Edison Ehie, Chief of Staff to suspended Rivers State Governor Sim Fubara, has denied any involvement in the burning of the Rivers State House of Assembly complex.
Speaking on Channels TV Sunday Politics, Ehie dismissed allegations made by former Head of Service, George Nwaeke, calling them false and accusing Nwaeke of not being in a sound state of mind.
Ehie stated that he had no close relationship with Nwaeke or the governor that could have placed them in a political meeting together.
”George Naweke, the former chief of service, had no political or intimate relationship with us, be it the governor of Rivers state, elected by the Rivers people.”
”It is very important to clarify that I was not, I had no hand in the burning down of the Rivers State Assembly…Clearly, the world has seen that George Nwaeke wasn’t in his right frame of mind,” he said.
He also revealed that he has instructed his lawyers to file a criminal libel suit against Nwaeke over the accusations.
Furthermore, Ehie suggested that the Speaker of the State Assembly, Martin Amaewhule should be questioned regarding the incident, as the Speaker’s convoy was reportedly seen entering the Assembly premises on the evening of the fire.
