The National Union of Rivers State Students (NURSS) is set to carryout a state-wide peaceful protest on Thursday, November 26 2020, over the failure of government to pay bursaries to students since 2015. This is barring any last minute changes.
President of the union, Comrade Levi Zachariah George had in a statement few weeks ago announced that the union would embark on a state-wide peaceful protest if the issues of bursary payment were not addressed on or before 25th November 2020.
“…In the event that any of this resolution is not looked into for consideration on or before 25th November, 2020, the organized National Union of Rivers State Students (NURSS) would not hesitate to come out in a peaceful Demonstration on the streets of Port Harcourt to demand for this as we have already formed our committee for the mobilization of our students come 26th November, 2020”.
Levi who expressed dissatisfaction over the failure of the current administration to pay student bursaries said, Rivers students are going through untold hardship due to lack of finance.
