The Rivers State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Pastor Paulinus Nsirim has called on religious leaders in the state to be role models by showing good examples for their congregation to follow.
Nsirim who stated this during a chat with journalists yesterday in Port Harcourt, said one way for religious leaders to show this is strictly and completely obeying the directives of the state government on measures to prevent and curb the spread of the COVID-19.
He said the highly respected clerics represent a section of the society with notable group of followers hence the need for them to be role models.
“Christians need to be role models. If there’s a group of people who should show good example, it should be Christians. When Christians begin to flout government directives, I don’t think there’s any hope for society.
He called on religious leaders and residents of the state to obey the COVID-19 protocols of the state government, as anyone caught flouting the directives will be dealt with.
