The National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu, has arrived in Port Harcourt alongside the Minister of Environment, Hon. Balarabe Lawal, for an on-the-spot assessment of the Kpean oil spill sites in Ogoniland.
The delegation touched down at the Port Harcourt International Airport on an official visit aimed at evaluating the extent of environmental damage caused by the oil spill and determining appropriate response measures.
The visit underscores the federal government’s concern over the environmental and socio-economic impact of oil pollution in Ogoniland, as well as its commitment to addressing the longstanding environmental degradation in the Niger Delta region.
Further details on the assessment and possible remediation steps are expected to be released after the inspection of the affected areas.
