The Nigeria Labour Congress in Rivers State, says its peaceful protest in solidarity with striking lecturers, witnessed in the state Today, is a “tip of the iceberg”.
Chairperson of the NLC in the state, Beatrice Itubo said this in a chat with journalists during the protest in Port Harcourt, on Tuesday.
According to her, there would be a total shutdown of work in the state if the demands of the striking lecturers are not met.
Itubo also said if they keep quiet, the government will continue to take them for granted.
She added that more actions would follow, as they are waiting for directive from the National leadership.
“Our children have been at home for five months going to six months now and a reasonable government has not thought it wise to say anything. And today all over the Federation, we have come out to say enough is enough,” she said.
The NLC protest held Nationwide in solidarity with the striking Academic Staff Union of Universities.
