The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has reaffirmed his unwavering support for President Bola Tinubu, insisting that he has no regrets backing him before, during, and after the 2023 general election.
Wike made the declaration on Saturday during a special event held at his Abuja residence to mark his 58th birthday.
In a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, the Minister said his political decisions have consistently been guided by character and integrity.
Reflecting on the 2023 election, Wike noted that he was the only prominent figure within the opposition who openly endorsed Tinubu’s presidential bid ahead of the polls. He explained that his decision was driven by the principles of equity, fairness, and justice, particularly the need for power to rotate to the South.
“I never hid my support for President Tinubu. My position was based on equity, fairness, and justice. I believed power should shift to the South, and I stood by that,” Wike said.
The FCT Minister also highlighted his political influence during the elections, stating that his leadership in Rivers State ensured victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the presidential poll, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secured wins in other contests, including the National Assembly, governorship, and local government elections.
