Prominent cleric, Pastor David Ibiyeomie, has described the lingering political crisis in Rivers State as one that cannot be resolved by human efforts alone, insisting that the problem goes beyond politics.
Speaking during Day 4 of the Glory Reign service, which was attended by Governor Siminalayi Fubara, the senior pastor said no individual, including the President, has been able to end the recurring political conflicts in the state.
According to Ibiyeomie, even if Governor Fubara were to handpick a successor, such a person would still end up clashing with him, as has been the pattern among past leaders in the state.
“Even if Sim picks somebody tomorrow, that person will still fight him. No mortal man can solve the political crisis in Rivers State,” the pastor said.
“Has the President been able to solve it? All Rivers governors have fought with their predecessors. It’s not a physical problem. It’s a spiritual problem. They’ve tried all means, even the President has not been able to solve it.”
The cleric’s comments come amid ongoing political tensions in Rivers State, which have continued to draw national attention and interventions from key political actors.
