The Nigerian Senate has debunked claims of a joint session with the House of Representatives to be addressed by President Muhammadu Buhari.
The House of Reps had earlier invited the President to appear before it, over the numerous security challenges bedeviling the nation.
Senate Spokesperson, Ajibola Bashiru in a statement today, said there was no resolution by the red chamber with the House of Reps for the president to appear before them.
“I expect that every enquiry as to the summoning and coming of the President should be directed to the House of Representatives,” he said.
“We operate a bi-camera legislature. That’s why our rules and procedures are different and that is why also we need concurrence from the two Houses on passing of legislation. “
