The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service has confirmed that no lives were lost in the fire incident that broke out at a section of the popular Alaba International Market on Tuesday evening.
According to reports, the inferno destroyed several shops and goods worth millions of naira before it was eventually contained by emergency responders.
The Alaba International Market, located along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway, is one of West Africa’s largest commercial centres, known for its bustling trade in electronics, furniture, and building materials.
Visuals shared by the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service showed the aftermath of the blaze, with charred remains of shops and goods littering the affected area.
Officials said investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.
