RUMUORLUMENI, RIVERS STATE — In commemoration of the 2025 Navy Week, the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Pathfinder, under the command of Commodore CN Aniaku, conducted a free medical outreach on Tuesday, May 20, at the Community Town Hall in Mgbu-Oshimili, Rumuorlumeni, Obio Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The event, tagged “Medical Rhapsody,” aimed to improve healthcare access for underserved residents and strengthen ties between the Navy and the local community. Over 1,500 people—including children, pregnant women, and the elderly—received various medical services.
The outreach featured blood pressure checks, diabetes and malaria screening, hepatitis B and C testing, HIV screening, health talks, and free consultations. In addition, 125 insecticide-treated mosquito nets were distributed to help combat malaria.
The initiative aligns with the Navy’s broader commitment to community engagement and national development under the leadership of Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla. The Navy emphasized its continued role in safeguarding not only the nation’s maritime domain but also the health and welfare of riverine and coastal populations.
