The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) Foundation has announced plans to offer free cataract extraction surgeries to 1,000 individuals as part of its efforts to combat preventable blindness.
The initiative will take place from March 31 to April 4, 2025, at Meridian Hospital in D/Line, Port Harcourt, Rivers State. Similar sessions will be held in Bayelsa State from March 31 to April 4 and in Akwa Ibom State from April 2 to April 3.
In a statement, NNPCL emphasized that blindness caused by cataracts is preventable and encouraged residents to participate in the program to receive screenings and surgical treatment. The company reaffirmed its commitment to improving healthcare and restoring vision for affected individuals.
