The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has sealed no fewer than 11 filling stations in Rivers State following an enforcement operation conducted on Friday.
The affected outlets, located in Obio-Akpor and Port Harcourt City Local Government Areas, were shut down due to allegations of sharp practices and multiple regulatory violations.
According to the agency, some of the stations were found to be under-dispensing petroleum products, operating faulty pumps, and breaching other operational guidelines.
Speaking with journalists during the exercise, Victor Owodiasa, the South-South Regional Coordinator of NMDPRA, stated that the crackdown is part of the agency’s ongoing surveillance campaign, titled “Operation One Litre for One Litre.”
He explained that the initiative is designed to protect consumers and ensure that fuel marketers dispense the correct quantity of products in line with established standards.
