NMA Sensitises Rivers Residents – The Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), Rivers State Chapter has embarked on a sensitisation programme in some parts of the state. This is to help educate the people on the COVID-19 pandemic.
Chairman of the NMA in the state, Obelebara Adebiyi made this known in a chat with journalists, yesterday in Port Harcourt.
Obelebara who said the COVID-19 is not a death sentence advised residents to report any of its symptoms to health facilities, for testing and proper treatment. She warned against discrimination and stigmatisation of coronavirus patients across the state and the country at large.
Speaking to journalists after the programme, Chairman of the Public Health Physicians In Rivers State, Amosimi Maduka called for health workers to be fully equipped and protected. She said it is to protect them from contracting the virus while on duty.
Other participants at the programme commended the NMA for sensitising Rivers residents in a bid to help curb the spread of the pandemic.
