The Nigeria Labour Congress in Rivers State, has called on its members to disregard threats by the state government asking them not to join Today’s protest in solidarity with the Academic Staff Union of Universities.
Chairperson of the NLC in the state, Beatrice Itubo who made this known in a chat with journalists yesterday, said the protest will hold as planned.
According to her, it is their constitutional right to protest when the policies of government are not favourable to her citizens.
She stated that take off point for the protest is the Union’s Secretariat at D/line in Port Harcourt, adding that the train will move through Mile 1 to Okija and to Government House.
She advised members to dress in their uniforms and be peaceful, so as not to allow hoodlums hijack the process.
Itubo who also noted that they are law abiding citizens said it is high time the government listens to ASUU as “Enough is Enough”.
