The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecast thunderstorms and moderate rainfall in Rivers State and several other parts of the country on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, urging the public to take precautions against possible weather hazards.
In its daily weather outlook released on Tuesday, NiMet stated that sunny skies are expected over most parts of the northern region during the morning hours, with sunny conditions likely to persist across the region. However, there are slim chances of isolated thunderstorms over the southern parts of Taraba State later in the day.
For the central region, the agency predicted “sunny skies with patches of clouds” during the morning period, followed by “isolated thunderstorms with moderate rains over parts of Kogi, Kwara, Benue, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and Nasarawa States later in the day.”
In the southern region, NiMet forecast a “cloudy atmosphere with light rains and thunderstorms likely over parts of Edo, Ogun, Ondo, Ebonyi, Cross River, Rivers, Lagos, and Akwa Ibom States” in the morning hours.
NiMet advised Nigerians to exercise caution during the period, particularly motorists, warning against over-speeding and driving in heavy rain to prevent accidents and other weather-related incidents.
