The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), has reacted to rumors making the rounds that it recently created an online app, which can be used to link the National Identity Number to SIM cards.
The commission in a post on its Twitter handle yesterday, denied creating such app.
NIMC, stated that it is the handiwork of fraudsters, who use it to get people’s NIN and Bank Verification Number for fraudulent activities.
The commission, warned Nigerians against disclosing their personal information through the app, as they have no business with it
“The app was not created by NIMC or the Federal Government of Nigeria. It is run by fraudsters who are currently harvesting people’s NINs and BVNs by default,” the statement read.
There were reports that the commission had created an online app, which can be used to link the National Identity Number to seven SIM cards.
