Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, has called for the construction of a comprehensive border fence along the country’s frontiers with Niger, Cameroon, Benin, and Chad. The proposal aims to curb rising insecurity and infiltration by armed groups operating across the borders.
Speaking on the issue, General Musa cited successful examples from Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, emphasizing the need for urgent action to secure Nigeria’s porous borders. He linked the continued threat of insurgencies, including those led by Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), to the ease of cross-border movement by militants.
