Nigerians have reacted to the statement by the Former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Madueke that internet fraudsters popularly known as “yahoo boiz” are now being celebrated in the country.
Diezani had in a virtual event over the weekend said, “The ones that have swag, the Yahoo Yahoo boys as my son would say; these in short, are the role models they are looking at. These are the ones that reinforce negative societal norms and values.”
The statement did not go down well with some Nigerians who blasted Diezani saying she lacks the moral right to make such a statement as she is a “yahoo girl” herself and not different from the fraudsters. This is owing to the fact that she is wanted by the federal government for alleged financial fraud running into billions of naira.
