As part of Operation DELTA SANITY, the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) PATHFINDER on Wednesday uncovered and dismantled a wellhead illegally connected to pipelines used for crude oil theft.
During further operations in Egbema, Rivers State, the NNS PATHFINDER patrol team also located and deactivated eight illegal refinery sites. The sites included 26 refining ovens, 30 reservoirs, and 32 dug-out pits containing large quantities of stolen crude oil and illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil (AGO).
Authorities say the operation underscores ongoing efforts to combat oil theft and environmental degradation in the Niger Delta.
