The Nigerian Navy has recorded another Nigerian Navy Disrupts Illegal Oil Refining in Rivers in its fight against crude oil theft in the Niger Delta under its flagship maritime security initiative, Operation Delta Sentinel.
The operation, carried out in the Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni area of Rivers State, led to the disruption of illegal crude oil refining activities and the dismantling of several illicit refining sites.
According to a statement by the Navy, the operation was conducted by the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Pathfinder Anti-Crude Oil Theft patrol team. During the patrol, operatives uncovered a tampered wellhead belonging to Renaissance African Energy Limited.
The wellhead had been illegally connected to an improvised pipeline used to siphon crude oil into dugout pits for illegal refining.
Further operations in the area resulted in the dismantling of illegal refining equipment and facilities. The patrol team also recovered a significant quantity of suspected stolen crude oil as well as illegally refined petroleum products.
The recovered products include Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), and Dual Purpose Kerosene (DPK).
The latest breakthrough underscores ongoing efforts by the Nigerian Navy to curb crude oil theft and illegal refining activities across the Niger Delta region.
