RIVERS STATE, NIGERIA – The Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) PATHFINDER on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, uncovered and dismantled multiple illegal refining sites in Egbema, Rivers State. The operation, codenamed DELTA SANITY, led to the deactivation of 70 refining ovens, 40 reservoirs, and 50 dugout pits filled with large quantities of illegally siphoned crude oil and illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil (AGO).
Authorities say the crackdown is part of ongoing efforts to combat oil theft and illegal refining activities in the region.
