As part of Operation DELTA SANITY, the Nigerian Navy intensified efforts to curb crude oil theft in the Niger Delta. On Wednesday, 3 September 2025, Forward Operating Base BONNY intercepted and impounded a large wooden boat carrying a substantial quantity of stolen crude oil around Asaramatoro, Rivers State.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) DELTA discovered and dismantled three illegal refinery sites in Ogbe-Ijoh Creek, Warri South-West LGA, Delta State, seizing a wooden boat and several sacks containing products suspected to be stolen crude oil. The operation was conducted at Latitude 5.64187°N and Longitude 5.643628°E.
The following day, Thursday, 4 September 2025, NNS DELTA uncovered another illegal refinery site at Ode-Itsekiri Creek, Warri South-West LGA (Latitude 5.55945°N, Longitude 5.620835°E), where two dug-out pits containing large quantities of stolen crude oil were found.
