The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has provided an update on its ongoing recruitment exercise, which began following an official advertisement published in national newspapers on December 27, 2024.
Abdullahi Maiwada, Assistant Comptroller of Customs and National Public Relations Officer, in a statement on behalf of the Comptroller-General of Customs said a total of 3,927 vacancies are available across the Superintendent, Inspectorate, and Customs Assistant cadres, as part of efforts to strengthen manpower and improve service delivery.
According to him, the service received 573,523 applications during the first phase. Following a detailed document screening, 286,697 candidates have been shortlisted to proceed to the next stage of the exercise.
The second phase, scheduled from September 14 to 21, 2025, will be conducted via an online Computer-Based Test (CBT). Shortlisted candidates may take the test from any location with reliable internet access, using a laptop or desktop equipped with a webcam and full-screen display. Mobile phones are not permitted. A facial verification process will be conducted during login, and candidates are advised to maintain a neat appearance to ensure successful verification.
He stated that candidates must remain fully focused during the test, as the system is sensitive to movement, noise, and window switching, which could result in automatic logout or disqualification.
To assist applicants, a mandatory pre-test session will be conducted two days before the CBT, allowing candidates to familiarize themselves with the application. Shortlisted candidates will receive separate links for the pre-test and the actual examination. Candidates applying for the Superintendent Cadre (Level 8) will also face an additional CBT in the next phase; this does not apply to Inspectorate or Customs Assistant cadres.
The NCS reiterated that the recruitment process remains strictly merit-based and transparent. Candidates are advised to follow official Service channels for updates and avoid social media or third-party platforms, as the Service will not request any form of payment.
