The Niger Delta Progressive Alliance has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for key developmental strides in the oil-rich region during his first two years in office, while urging the Federal Government to intensify efforts in addressing long-standing challenges.
The commendation came during a high-level summit held Thursday in Port Harcourt, themed “Two Years of Stewardship: Tinubu’s Footprint in the Niger Delta – Legacy in Motion.” The event brought together political figures, traditional rulers, youth leaders, and civil society groups to assess progress and outline a roadmap for sustainable development.
Convener of the summit, Ambassador Victor Udoh, described the gathering as more than a celebration — calling it a strategic platform to demand deeper investment in human capital, environmental justice, and inclusive governance.
Traditional leaders at the event, including Berechiri Yemaiyaye of the Ancient Borokiri Kingdom and Amayanabo Abiye Iyo of Omubara in the Okrika Kingdom, praised Tinubu’s administration for infrastructural progress and political intervention, especially in defusing tensions surrounding the Rivers State governorship.
Youth leaders also welcomed the President’s reforms and protection of vital oil assets, but stressed the need for renewed focus on youth empowerment, skills training, and the revival of the Niger Delta Master Plan.
The summit concluded with a communique highlighting key policy recommendations such as mobile education outreach, women- and youth-led empowerment programs, grassroots industrial development, and technical training in the oil and gas sector.
Organisers expressed optimism that the dialogue would foster a stronger partnership between the Federal Government and the people of the Niger Delta, ensuring a future driven by equity, inclusion, and regional growth.
