The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, says it has seized over a 100,000 bottles of codeine syrup with a total weight of 15,325kilograms at the Onne Seaport in Rivers State.
Director of Media and Advocacy of the Agency, Femi Babafemi disclosed this in a statement on Saturday.
He said the illicit drugs were intercepted on Thursday in one of the warehouses at the seaport.
Femi, stated that since they intercepted the drugs, no importer or agent has approached them to claim ownership.
He said investigation is ongoing to arrest the owner for further investigation and prosecution in accordance with the laws of the land.
Meanwhile, Chairma of NDLEA, Brig. General Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd) has commended the officers for the feat, as he urged them to carry-on the good works of ensuring that illicit drugs are not imported into the country.
