The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) says it has arrested 281 persons in Rivers State for drug-related offences between January and September 2025.
Assistant Commander of Narcotics, James Awoji, who disclosed this in an interview, said the arrests comprise 226 men and 55 women. He added that the agency seized about 875 kilograms of narcotic and psychotropic substances during the period.
According to him, 49 offenders have so far been convicted, while 45 others underwent rehabilitation. He called for the establishment of more rehabilitation centres in Rivers State to aid victims’ recovery and reintegration into society.
Awoji further noted that NDLEA has intensified patrols at the state’s borders to stem the inflow of illicit drugs.
