The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has announced plans to commence the installation of solar-powered streetlights in Ogbogolo Community, hometown of Grammy Award-winning artist Burna Boy.
The disclosure followed a meeting between NDDC officials and the global music star, who visited the commission on Tuesday alongside his father, Samuel Ogulu, to explore areas of collaboration aimed at developing Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State.
According to the Managing Director of the Commission, Samuel Ogbuku the engagement marked a first-time interaction focused on fostering sustainable development initiatives in the community.
He commended Burna Boy for his commitment to community growth and reaffirmed its readiness to partner with him in driving development projects.
Ogbuku also encouraged the artist to champion initiatives that would attract increased investment to Port Harcourt, a city it noted played a significant role in his journey to global recognition.
In addition to the solar streetlight project scheduled to begin next week, the NDDC said it would also award contracts for the construction of internal roads in Ogbogolo Community.
