The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has said that Acting Managing Director, Prof. Pondei had been battling with his health for the past two weeks and was warned by his doctors not to attend the investigate hearing.
Director, Corporate Affairs of the commission, Charles Odili in a statement yesterday, said Pondei’s health deteriorated Monday morning but he still went ahead to attend the hearing.
Odili said Prof. Pondei, ignored his doctor’s advice because of the realisation that his detractors will use his absence at the hearing as an opportunity to soil his name and reputation. “He is in a stable condition in Abuja,” he noted.
Pondei slumped while appearing before the investigative committee yesterday in Abuja.
