The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting security agencies to enhance peace and stability in the Niger Delta region.
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Commission, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, made the pledge during a courtesy visit by the Flag Officer Commanding, Central Naval Command, Rear Admiral S.D. Ibrahim.
Dr Ogbuku emphasised that security and development are inseparable, noting that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed that the Niger Delta must remain safe and secure to foster sustainable development.
He stressed that addressing insecurity requires a collective effort, describing it as a “cancer” that must be urgently tackled before it spreads further across the country.According to him, the NDDC will continue to collaborate with security agencies, as peace and stability are critical to the successful execution of development projects across the region.
In his remarks, Rear Admiral Ibrahim commended the NDDC for its consistent support to security agencies and praised Dr Ogbuku’s leadership, citing visible development projects being executed by the Commission across the Niger Delta.
He noted that enhanced support from the NDDC would further strengthen security, boost crude oil production, and stimulate other economic activities vital to both regional and national growth.
