The leadership of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has conducted an inspection of ongoing projects in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, including the Niger Delta Regional Specialist Hospital and the Kaa–Ataba Road and Bridge project.
The projects currently under construction include the Niger Delta Regional Specialist Hospital located in Port Harcourt and the 6.5-kilometre Kaa–Ataba road project, which features two bridges measuring about 1.2 kilometres and 200 metres respectively.
The road project links Khana Local Government Area and Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State.
During the visit, the NDDC leadership team, led by the Chairman of the Governing Board, Chiedu Ebie, alongside the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Samuel Ogbuku, carried out a comprehensive site inspection of the Kaa–Ataba Bridge project.
The commission described the project as a critical infrastructure development aimed at enhancing connectivity between Khana and Andoni Local Government Areas.
According to the NDDC leadership, the bridge and road project will promote regional integration and economic expansion by creating new corridors for trade, improving safety, and strengthening social and economic ties between the communities.
The commission also noted that the Niger Delta Regional Specialist Hospital, when completed, will serve as a specialised medical facility with cardiovascular and orthopaedic units.
The hospital is expected to operate through strategic partnerships with experts in hospital management to ensure efficient and high-quality healthcare service delivery.
The NDDC reiterated that the projects reflect its commitment to improving infrastructure, healthcare services and economic development across the Niger Delta region.
