The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has distributed mobility aids to persons with disabilities in Akwa Ibom State, aiming to promote inclusivity and enhance their quality of life. The event, held in Uyo, featured the distribution of wheelchairs, crutches, walking frames, movement aids for the blind, hearing aids, visual aids, and braille books.
Speaking at the event, NDDC Managing Director, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, represented by the Akwa Ibom State Representative on the NDDC Board, Pastor Abasiandikan Nkono, encouraged beneficiaries to embrace their uniqueness and not feel inferior due to their disabilities. He reiterated NDDC’s commitment to inclusivity and social welfare in the Niger Delta region, emphasizing that the Commission would continue supporting persons with disabilities.
Dr. Ogbuku noted the significance of the event’s theme, “Amplifying the Leadership of Persons with Disabilities for an Inclusive and Sustainable Future,” and highlighted the NDDC’s dedication to creating opportunities for all.
