The Management of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has constituted a Project Verification and Payment Committee to verify completed projects across the Niger Delta region.
The decision followed resolutions reached at the 9th meeting of the 7th Governing Board of the Commission held on December 8, 2025. At the meeting, the Board approved the establishment of the committee to verify infrastructure, electrification, desilting, environmental and water supply projects for the purpose of capturing them on the Directorate of Finance and Accounts’ digitised payment platform.
The move aligns with a Federal Government directive mandating all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to digitalise their operations and go paperless by December 31, 2025. As part of this process, the NDDC said it was necessary to carry out a comprehensive verification of completed projects to ensure accurate documentation for electronic payments.
According to the Director of Corporate Affairs, Seledi Thompson-Wakama the Project Verification and Payment Committee will verify all completed projects from inception to January 2023, with a view to capturing relevant details in the Directorate of Finance and Accounts’ electronic database for e-payment purposes.
Projects to be verified include infrastructural works, electrification projects, environmental interventions, desilting activities and water supply schemes across the region.
The committee is chaired by the Executive Director of Finance and Administration, Alabo Boma Iyaye. Other members include the Executive Director of Projects, Sir Victor Antai; the Director of Project Monitoring and Supervision, Gbenga Omowanle; the Director of Finance and Accounts, Mrs Kunemofa Asu; and the Director of Internal Audit, Mr Lucky Ogbuji. The Director of Legal Services, Mr Victor Arenyeka, will serve as Secretary of the committee.
The Commission said the initiative is expected to strengthen transparency, accountability and efficiency in project payments.
