The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has awarded foreign postgraduate scholarships to 200 successful candidates under its 2025 scheme.
The award letters were officially presented during a pre-departure briefing held at the Banquet Hall of Hotel Presidential, Port Harcourt.
Present at the event were the Chairman of the NDDC Governing Board, Mr. Chiedu Ebie; the Commission’s Managing Director, Chief Samuel Ogbuku, PhD; and the Director of Education, Health, and Social Services, Dr. George Uzonwanne.
Addressing the beneficiaries, Chief Ogbuku emphasized that the selection process was transparent and devoid of political interference. “The panel responsible for the screening did a commendable job, ensuring that only the best candidates were selected,” he said.
He further noted that the integrity of the programme has yielded impressive results, citing a previous beneficiary who emerged as the best-performing student in a foreign institution last year.
The scholarship programme, according to the NDDC, is part of its ongoing efforts to empower youth in the Niger Delta through education and capacity building.
